I just plugged my headphones into my speakers for my computer. When I scroll in listboxes in a handful of my programs I get some scratchy feedback type sounds in my headphones. I wonder what causes that. My guess is something about with the monitor display, but really I have no idea. |

A year long dream nears it's end. What happened this year? My memories fade until I them with all other information in my mind. Was I ever on a train in Germany, smiling at girl as we both noticed that we were each eating the same candy? I don't know. |

Man did anyone see the Ruiz fight.. look at the size of that Russian guy. He looks like a neananderthal. That's a little harsh though. The guy says everyone always boos him because he's so much bigger than his opponents. It must suck always being the bad guy. I still want to see him knocked down... Although if he were a good fighter it would probably be good for the dismal state of heavyweight boxing at the moment.

| Eminent domain |
|
|

"Following the decision, many of the plaintiffs expressed an intent to find other means by which they could continue contesting the seizure of their homes. However, the Supreme Court having disposed of the eminent domain issue, the only legal avenue left to Kelo and her fellow residents may be to contest the fairness of the amount that the city intends to pay for the land—the city has reportedly set aside $1.6 million to buy all 15 homes, and city officials believe that they will be in possession of the property within a few months.[2] Soon after the decision, city officials announced plans to charge the residents of the homes for back rent for the five years since condemnation procedures began. The city contends that the residents have been on city property for those five years and owe tens of thousands of dollars of rent."
So what is the fair market value of a house taken by eminent domain, after you try to fight for your ownership rights..... $71,000
The math: Assuming all properties are about equal in value.... $107,000 to the home owner's. Not quite fair market value, but those are based on market values in 2000, not 2005, likely they would be much closer to 300k now. So citizens are screwed once.
On to back rent... well I found this quote: "They have sent us eviction letters and have given us 90 days to vacate," homeowner Michael Cristofaro told WND. "As further insult to injury, they are requiring us to send them $600-a-month rent" So I'll multiply that times 60(5 years of rent)=$36,000
So the grand total is $71,000. Good luck finding a double-wide for that amount. That's assuming there are no late fees... I'm sure they'll try to add those on, likely bringing the payout down to around 50k. I'd like to thank the wonderful supreme court for this. |

Zombies rising from the dead sound like the stuff of horror films and nightmares - but it could soon be reality. Scientists have discovered a way to bring dead dogs back to life.
Using a so-called suspended animation technique, they emptied the dead animals' veins of blood and filled them with ice-cold saline solution to preserve the tissues and organs.
The animals had no heartbeat or brain activity and were classed as being clinically dead.
The saline solution was then replaced with fresh blood and electric shocks were used to restart the heart. The dogs appeared unharmed by their suspension and had suffered no brain damage
Scientists at the Safar Centre in Pittsburgh hope to use the technique on humans within a year and are in talks with hospitals about trials on trauma patients.
They believe it could save the lives of people who have suffered massive blood loss, such as battlefield casualties or stabbings victims.
'The results are stunning. They have these dogs with complete cardiac standstill for three hours and they recover to normality,' said trauma surgeon Dr Howard Champion.

One-time hero in federal prison after shooting Dara Veng, 23, is one of two men who received a Carnegie Hero medal for saving two brothers from a burning tenement in 2000.
01:00 AM EDT on Tuesday, May 31, 2005
PROVIDENCE -- A Mount Hope man once lauded as a hero for his role in saving two children whose house was ablaze has been sent to federal prison for five years after repeatedly shooting at his neighborhood police substation.
Dara Veng, 23, of 2 Queen St., pleaded guilty earlier this year to being a felon in possession of gun. In November 2003, a man fired about 22 slugs into the facade of the new police substation in Mount Hope -- reloading in the process -- then walked away. No one was injured.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said police seized from a hiding spot in a tire a loaded 9mm pistol from the basement of Veng's home several days after the shooting. An aluminum storm door in the basement had a number of bullet holes.
Ballistics tests showed the gun was the weapon used in the shooting, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
In 2000, Veng was driving with a friend past a tenement on Hymer Street in the North End when they saw flames. They ran into a first-floor apartment and saved two brothers, then tried in vain to reach Deborah Griffin and her four children, ages 7, 8, 11 and 14, trapped in their third-floor apartment. The family died in the fire.
Veng and the friend, Jean Melo, received medals from the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission in 2002.
Veng, who has a felony record for drug trafficking, breaking and entering and possessing a stolen motor vehicle, was arrested a week after the substation shooting for driving with a suspended license. Police said they had been told that he was illegaly carrying a gun and searched his home after the arrest. |

01. Reply with your name and I will write something about you. 02. I will then tell what song/movie reminds me of you. 03. If I were to apply an o'clock to you, it would be... 04. I will try to name a single word that best describes you. 05. I'll tell you the most memorable moment I've had with you. 06. I will tell you what animal you remind me of. 07. I'll then tell you something that I've always wondered about you. 08. Put this in your journal. |
